Today’s bento is in the name of Spring.
Though it’s dreary and grey outside here in England it’s no excuse for our food to be the same.
This cheery little bento was made for my husband and just by looking at it makes me a little happier.
Included is plain Japanese rice, Spring onions (no pun intended), boiled runner beans and some Yakibuta all topped with my hubby’s obsession, sesame seeds.
The star of the show here is the Yakibuta (Yaki meaning broiled, grilled or pan fried and Buta meaning pig).
It has strong, dark, soy sauce flavours which is why all of these plain foods go so well with it.
I broiled this piece and reduced the liquid to a delicious sauce.
